Mahi Tahi - Human Paper Track Trail
This morning for Mahi Tahi students were challenged to make a human paper track. They had to think critically about size, structure and strength, and make it big enough to fit their whole team (4 students) in it.
They then had to test their tracks, by walking in them along the length of the classroom, and those whose tracks stayed in tact, then were challenged to race the length of the court outside!

Maths Art - Impossible Objects
Today’s Maths Task - This lesson was for consolidating compass and ruler constructions.
It reinforces accurate measuring and constructing skills as well as the need for ‘attention to detail’. For many it was the first time using a compass - a quick 'look, listen and learn' run through first. Lot's of engaged students, ensuring instructions were accurately followed, and their illustrations specific and clear.

Mahi Tahi - Harakeke Matariki Stars
With Matariki nearly here, and lots of discussion about this in class, this weeks Mahi Tahi task was to create Matariki Stars from Harakeke.
The process was to first, watch a YouTube clip through with your group, then collect their Harakeke and follow the instructions - keeping in mind the 4 Cs (Creativity, Communication, Collaboration, and Critical Thinking). Some very successful creations.
What were the highs of the task?
* Everyone worked well together - everyone helped out and did their part, and communicated.
* Watched the video together and knew what to do.
* Stayed as a group, until the task was done.
Challenges?
* Getting the very first part done.
* Having trouble splitting the flax in only one part.
* Folding the harakeke to make the point.
* Some people didn't help and talked to other groups.

Celebrating Catholic Schools Day
What a wonderful Catholic Schools Day celebration!!! Hosting Te Kura o Hato Hohepa te Kamura our neighbouring Catholic School in Waitaruke was the highlight of the day. We prayed, we sang, we celebrated, we created, we did weaving and we made friends. Our student leaders were outstanding leading the acitivities and preparing our sausage sizzle lunch, and our staff team came together to make this day a wonderful success. Thank you everyone 😇

Writing Moderation
Writing moderation in TK today! 📝
These guys did a writing sample last week (assessments is all go for end of year data), and peer assessing is so powerful! They all got 1 paper to assess - where great FB and FF has been given. Students will read when I have marked them all myself.
