NZ Author Des Hunt visits Pompallier Catholic School

Well known NZ Author Des Hunt came for a visit today. He’s written 23 chapter books which include NZ places and have animal themes. I had read 3 to Kakapo class last year 📚 He’s a great writer!
We were lucky enough to have a senior classes workshop, and then break into our own TK writing workshop where Des gave amazing advice on important aspects that can make you a great writer! ✍️
Students were thoroughly engaged in what he had to say, and feedback afterwards was that they really enjoyed it! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I’m thinking the use of science as an explanation/comparison tool to ideas for writing helped - and just so happened to fit in with our inquiry around chemistry at the moment! 🔬 💥

Matariki Tukutuku Panels

As part of our Matariki Celebrations we designed and created Tukutuku Panels...  This was a lot of focused effort, and a step by step process where we had to wait for paint to dry, and carefully tape our patterns onto our canvas.

The students are so proud of their creations.  A lot of time and effort has gone into them.  They would love some positive feedback :)

Kiwi Sport with EJ

Kiwi Sport with EJ is so much fun.  Students have enjoyed getting to know our new Kiwi Sport
co-ordinator and the skills and knowledge he is bringing to our school.  He has a great rapport with students, and they have a great relationship with him, showing his respect and actively participating in all activities.
